We recommend you click here and visit Speedtest.net, register for free and test your internet speed. Once the inspection has finished, as long as you've registered, SpeedTest will tell you ways to improve the overall running speed whilst online and recommends many useful Windows tweaks.

Basically, and in Layman's terms, Cable Broadband is carried across a cable (Virgin/NTL/Telewest in the UK) and ADSL Broadband is brought into your premises over your telephone line.  Broadband internet, which ever means you choose, will not interfere with your telephone line as in the odlen days of Dial-Up Internet.  As a matter of personal taste we at WM Tech choose Cable Broadband because we are offered better speeds in our area combined with unlimited downloads and it seems to have less down-time than ADSL.
